The Glory Hole

The Glory Hole is where we GlassPeeps reheat all our glass. This is a furnace that runs at about 900 degrees. In the picture there is a blowpipe with a glob of glass on the end. A "blown" piece starts with a puff of air blown through through the pipe which starts as a bubble inside the glass. Most of our teapots are not blown, but rather they are solid. However once in awhile we will blow a larger teapot for fun. The orange glow that comes from the Glory Hole is a beautiful site to see.
